Student speaking in classStudents of all backgrounds are very active in campus life at William Mitchell, and within the community surrounding the college. With so many organizations to choose from, students can be certain to find one that fits their interests.

Here is just a sampling of the activities planned by student organizations:

  • Members of the Black Law Students Association volunteer throughout the year at a local elementary school to help students there with reading skills and plan a host of events in celebration of Black History Month.
  • The Muslim Student Association plans a video lecture series and other events during the month of Ramadan.
  • Gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender students attend a mentoring reception with GLBT practicing lawyers in the Twin Cities.

William Mitchell also has a strong contingent of foreign lawyers who are studying U.S. law at the college from countries such as Brazil, Cameroon, China, Germany, and others. With their backgrounds in other legal systems they add a unique perspective to the classroom and student life. To help these students adjust to life in the United States, the Multicultural Affairs office hosts a conversation group where foreign students can fine tune their English and enjoy the company of others facing similar situations.
