What to do when your e-mail inbox is full...
Configuring Outlook Express
You can easily configure Outlook Express to access your William
Mitchell e-mail account on your home PC. Outlook Express is available
for download from Microsoft's Web site for both Windows (download with Internet Explorer) and Macintosh, or
it's probably already on your computer.
Setup... [Macintosh variations are in grey]
- Select Tools | Accounts, then click Add | Mail
- First it will ask you for a display name--call it William
Mitchell | Next
- Select "I already have..." then type your @wmitchell.edu
address in the box. | Next
- This part is very important - choose IMAP for the server type
- Type mail.wmitchell.edu in the incoming mail server
box. You will need to find out the name of your outgoing (smtp)
server from your Internet service provider (ISP). If you have
another e-mail account set up, copy that outgoing mail (smtp) server
name, otherwise check your ISP's Web page. | Next
You should configure the Outgoing Mail Server
for this account to use your Internet service provider (ISP) as the
SMTP server. Copy from your other configured mail accounts.
- Fill in your account name [account
id] (the part before @wmitchell.edu),
and password. | Next
- Finish [add your name for account name]
You are now ready to receive your William Mitchell e-mail using Outlook Express.
