Study Abroad 2008 Financial Aid Information

William Mitchell’s federal school code is G02391.

Study-Abroad is exciting! Early planning will allow you to concentrate on an experience that will enrich your academic career. After January 1, 2008:

  1. File your 2008-2009 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the 2008-09 academic year
  2. Submit a Summer 2008 William Mitchell College of Law
Summer Off-Campus Financial Aid Application (2008-2009) PDF, 314 Kb

Please attach a program brochure (a Web page print out is acceptable) to your summer financial aid application if you are attending a Study Abroad Program other than:

  • London, England, and Edinburgh, Scotland, sponsored by William Mitchell College of Law
  • Galway, Ireland, sponsored by New England School of Law
  • the Island of Malta, sponsored by South Texas College of Law
  • Prague, Czech Republic, sponsored by South Texas College of Law
  • Fair Trade Academy, San Diego, California Western School of Law

The amount of financial aid offered for summer is determined by your study abroad program’s costs plus estimated amounts for travel and miscellaneous personal expenses. Specific budgets are available from the Financial Aid Office. You are not required to borrow and spend the maximum budgeted amount, and we encourage you to practice economy wherever possible.

As soon as we have both your complete FAFSA results and your William Mitchell Study Abroad Summer Financial Aid Application, we will mail a financial aid eligibility letter to you. Return your signed 2007-08 financial aid eligibility letter indicating the amounts and types of financial aid you are accepting. You must register for a minimum of 4 credits to use federal loans. If you received Stafford and Federal Grad PLUS loans in 2007-2008, no additional application is required to receive these loans in 2008-2009.

Financial aid disbursement occurs 10 days prior to the start of the study abroad program’s classes. Your summer financial aid disbursement can be mailed to you, or you can make arrangements with the Finance Office, (651) 290-6312, to have your credit balance mailed, as a deposit, to your bank. You are responsible for payment of your program’s costs and expenses.

We are here to answer any questions you may have at any point in this process. We are ready to work with you to make your study abroad experience enjoyable!
