Named Scholarship Application Instructions

Academic Year 2008-2009

  • Applications are accepted for scholarships listed in The Docket as "open for application." Applications submitted for scholarships not listed as "open for application" will be returned.

  • Submit a separate, complete application for each scholarship for which you are applying. A complete scholarship application includes:
  • Named Scholarship Application Cover SheetDownload Adobe ReaderPDF, 27 Kb
  • Your current resume
  • A personal statement, no longer than two pages in length, addressing your specific qualifications related to the criteria for the scholarship. Additional specific application materials may be requested in the individual scholarship’s criteria.
  • Pay careful attention to each scholarship’s description and criteria. You are responsible for the completeness and accuracy of your application. Please do not submit original materials to be returned to you. We may forward your application to the scholarship donor for final selection.
  • You must agree, as a condition of receiving the scholarship, to write a letter to the donor acknowledging the award and to also provide appropriate biographical information. You must also agree to provide a copy of your acknowledgement letter to the William Mitchell College of Law Development Office. Instructions and donor information will be included with your scholarship award letter.
  • All scholarship awards are subject to funding levels.
  • Please take note of Section 17.4 of The Student Handbook: “The total value of all scholarships and fellowships received, whether from on or off campus sources cannot exceed the student’s total tuition charges.”
  • Newly available scholarships will be announced as they become available in the Financial Aid section of The Docket.
  • Scholarships which specify “financial need” require a complete financial aid application to be on file with the William Mitchell financial aid office. Please do not attach financial aid materials to your scholarship application. If you filed your financial aid application by the March 15th priority deadline, your application for scholarships which specify “need” will receive priority consideration. A priority financial aid application does not guarantee receipt of a need based scholarship.

  • Submit your complete scholarship application(s) to the Financial Aid Office, Room 120. Questions about the scholarship application process and individual scholarship criteria may be directed to Patty Harris, Director of Financial Aid, (651) 290-6403, finaid@wmitchell.edu.
