The Financial Aid staff at William Mitchell College of Law understands that the process of applying for financial aid can be daunting. We are happy to make ourselves available for help. If you have questions after you have read this information, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Gather your income, asset, and tax information. Since our priority financial aid application deadline is March 15, you may use estimated income amounts when filing the aid application. However, once you have filed your income tax, you must re-submit the application indicating a completed tax status before financial aid will be disbursed.
Our Federal School Code is G02391.
Prospective and current students should submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) between January 1 and March 15. The 2008-2009 FAFSA uses your 2007 tax year income to determine the types of aid you are eligible to receive. The total amount of aid is determined by your tuition and our estimated living expenses. Use a federal Personal Identification Number (PIN) to electronically sign your FAFSA application for faster, more accurate processing
Prospective students should complete the FAFSA even before an admission decision is made. Your financial aid information will be held pending your admission decision. March 15, 2008, is the priority application deadline for determining eligibility for limited financial aid funds. Federal Stafford and Grad-PLUS loan funds are available to all eligible applicants throughout the aid year.
The Department of Education responds to your FAFSA with a Student Aid Report (SAR). Review your SAR for any required additional information. Submit a William Mitchell form with your documentation to ensure accurate processing.
When your financial aid file is complete—and, if you are a prospective student, you have been admitted, we will send you a Financial Aid Eligibility Letter indicating the types and amounts of institutional and federal financial aid you are eligible to receive. You must return a signed copy of the letter to the William Mitchell Financial Aid Office before any aid will be processed. Instructions for first time applicants are included with the letter.
