    Help Using Pathways

Civil litigators represent parties in disputes in state and federal court, administrative tribunals, and, increasingly, in arbitration and mediation. The field of “civil litigation” includes many different types of lawyering, from solo practice to large firm commercial litigation to government practice on behalf of agencies. A civil litigator may be an expert in specialized areas of law such as employment law, administrative law, securities regulation, or professional malpractice. This Pathway lists courses that would be useful in a wide range of civil practice, as well as some of the most common specialty areas. Students interested in civil litigation are encouraged to take Evidence and Advocacy at their earliest opportunity.
