Re: Letter to a Young Law Student

Following is a link to an article I hope you will find interesting and helpful as new students at William Mitchell College of Law.

While the article is titled Letter to a Young Law Student, I believe it contains words of wisdom for all persons beginning law school, regardless of their age, or experience.

“I learned more from my peers in law school than I did from my professors, and that is not unusual.”

» Read the letter here…

Please read and enjoy. I sincerely hope it will be helpful to you as you begin this exciting new phase of your lives.

As you read, take note of the footnotes you may click on…if you have not in the past paid close attention to footnotes, in law school you will. There are some valuable pieces of information in the footnotes of the article, and the author makes it quite easy to click to and from the footnotes and the text.

Alumni-Mentor Advisor Program

Meet and learn from recent William Mitchell alumni through the Alumni-Mentor Advisor Program (A-MAP) program.  This is an opportunity to learn the ropes of first year law school from recent graduates. Students that sign up for the program will be assigned to a group of 4-6 students and two alumni co-mentors.

A-MAP was designed to help you transition into your first year of law school by learning tips and strategies about preparing for class, studying for exams and maintaining a healthy life balance while in law school.  Students who apply are expected to make a time commitment of 1-2 hours per month to participate in planning activities and meeting with the co-mentors and the group. More information and an opportunity to sign-up will be shared during Opening Week Orientation.
