Professor Roberts elected to top real estate lawyers organization

William Mitchell College of Law Professor Eileen Roberts has been elected to membership in the American College of Real Estate Lawyers (ACREL), the premier organization of U.S. real estate lawyers. Admission is by invitation only after a rigorous screening process.

Only 30 real estate lawyers in Minnesota are members of ACREL. Lawyers are elected not only for their outstanding legal ability, experience, and high standards of professional and ethical conduct in the practice of real estate law, but also for their contributions to the real estate and legal professions through their practices, their legal writings, and their public speaking.

Roberts has been on the William Mitchell faculty since 1989 and teaches courses in property, real estate transactions, land use, and remedies. She has given numerous presentations on real estate law to members of the legal community and serves as general editor of Minnesota Practice: Real Estate Law (Thomson-West 2007), a treatise on Minnesota real property law. In addition, Roberts was appointed by Gov. Tim Pawlenty to the Minnesota Electronic Real Estate Recording Task Force.

Prior to joining William Mitchell, Roberts was a partner with Robins, Kaplan, Miller and Ciresi.

Concerned with environmental issues, Roberts has served as chair of the Minneapolis Environmental Commission; member of the City of Minneapolis Citizen´s Advisory Committee on Lake Water Quality Management; and citizen representative of the Chain of Lakes Education Project.

Professor Roberts received bachelor degrees from North Dakota State University and Moorhead State College and her J.D. degree from William Mitchell College of Law.
