Islamic Jurisprudence Week events explore the foundation of Islamic law

In celebration of Islamic Jurisprudence Week, the William Mitchell chapter of the Muslim Law Students Association is hosting five events March 15–19 that explore the foundations of Islamic law. These events are free and open to the public.

Monday, March 15

What is Islam?

Legal Rights of Women in Islam

Tuesday, March 16

Islamic Law: Its Foundations and Characteristics
4-6 p.m.
Auditorium
Presenter: Louai al-Haffar, coordinator of the Fiqh Council of North America, and research assistant at the Graduate School of Islamic and Social Sciences in Leesburg, Va.

Islamic Business Law
7-8 p.m.
Auditorium
Presenter: Ali Jaafar, president and chairman of Minnesota Medical Physics

Wednesday, March 17

Family and Inheritance Law in Islam
7-8 p.m.
Kelley Boardroom
Presenter: Dr. Hamdy Al-Sawaf, executive director of the Islamic Center of Minnesota
