The American Bar Association estimates that 15 to 20 percent of U.S. lawyers suffer from alcoholism or chemical dependency, nearly double the rate of the general population. William C. Moyers, vice president of external relations for Hazelden, shares his firsthand experience on the power of addiction and the promise and possibility of recovery. His book, Broken: My Story of Addiction and Redemption, chronicles his life and hard-won fight for recovery from addiction.

William C. Moyers has emerged in recent years as one of the most visible spokespersons of the addiction treatment field. After initially following his well-known parents, Bill and Judith, into journalism, Moyers joined the Hazelden staff in 1996 after 15 years as a reporter.

Moyers has appeared on numerous television shows including Larry King Live, the Oprah Winfrey Show, and the Today Show. His work has been featured in scores of newspapers and other publications.

Moyers received his Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from Washington & Lee University in Lexington, VA.
