The time has come for a frank discussion about how we die. As a society, we have just begun to grapple with some basic, yet profound, questions:

What is the purpose of medical treatment, when do we use it, and when do we stop?

William H. Colby is the lawyer who represented the family of Nancy Cruzan in the first right-to-die case heard by the U.S. Supreme Court.
