The Warren E. Burger Library has been a participant in the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP) since 1979.  Administered by the Government Printing Office (GPO), the FDLP provides for the dissemination of official U.S. government publications in print and online formats to depository libraries across the country in an effort to ensure free, public access to U.S. government information.

The library selects approximately 14 percent of the materials offered through the program, primarily to support the research and educational needs of the WMCL students and faculty.  The collection includes materials published by the Departments of Justice, Labor, and Treasury, the Judiciary, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Patent and Trademark Office and other major agencies as well as some Congressional hearings and reports.  Some primary titles received through the program include the U.S. Code, Statutes at Large, Congressional Record, Code of Federal Regulations and Federal Register.

The majority of print documents received are housed on the upper level of the library, and organized by issuing governmental department/agency using the Superintendent of Documents (SuDocs) system.  Some of the materials are arranged by the Library of Congress system, and are located in the regular collection.  The online catalog provides the location of materials.  The documents collection, as well as the rest of the library collection, is open to the public for research.

Most government publications are now available online, either in addition to, or instead of, being in print.  The library provides access to many of these online resources through links in the online catalog, the Free Internet Research Sources page, and GPO Access/FDsys.
