Anderson
served in VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) as a volunteer
attorney with New Haven Legal Assistance, was a special assistant
attorney general for Minnesota, and was an associate and partner
in the South St. Paul law firm of LeVander, Gillen & Miller for
more than 20 years before he was appointed chief judge to the Minnesota
Court of Appeals in 1992. In 1994, he was appointed to the Minnesota
Supreme Court.
He is an active member of the Race Bias Elimination Committee and the Advisory Committee on the Rules of Public Access to Records of the Judicial Branch. He is an adjunct professor at the University of Minnesota Law School and is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Macalester College Distinguished Citizen Award, Lawyers Assistance Program award, and the Minnesota YMCA Youth In Government Crystal Dome award for services to youth leadership development. He is a graduate of Macalester College and the University of Minnesota Law School.
Charles
teaches and writes in the areas of constitutional law, civil procedure,
election law, politics, and race. His articles have appeared in
Constitutional Commentary, The Michigan Law Review,
The Georgetown Law Journal, and The Journal of Politics.
He is a frequent television, print, and radio commentator on issues
relating to election law, campaign finance, and politics. He was
a member of the National Research Commission on Elections and Voting
and the Century Foundation Working Group on Election Reform.
He is a graduate of Spring Arbor University and the University of Michigan Law School. He is the James S. Carpentier Visiting Professor of Law at Columbia Law School.
Levine has been a faculty member at William Mitchell since 2001,
her areas of expertise include constitutional theory, First
Amendment and mass media law, and election law. She serves on
the board of directors of the American Civil Liberties Union of
Minnesota. She received her J.D. degree from Stanford Law
School.
Clark was appointed to the Ramsey County District Court bench in 1992 where he focuses on civil matters. He is the treasurer of the Minnesota District Judges Association and is a member of the American Bar Association section on Judicial Administration
Gilbert is currently involved in the prosecution of a number
of class action cases, including In re AOL Time Warner Securities
Litigation (S.D.N.Y.). He represented Minnesota before the U.S.
Supreme Court in Republican Party of Minnesota v. White.
He was a solicitor general
and chief deputy attorney general of Minnesota and has participated
on the Minnesota Supreme Court Committee on Appellate Rules.
Le
immigrated to the United States from Vietnam with his family
in 1975. He is a litigator in the areas of corporate, real estate,
municipalities, labor and criminal law. He also worked with Southern
Minnesota Regional Legal Services.
Mohrman
is a founding partner of Mohrman & Kaardal. His practice centers
on business litigation and constitutional litigation. He served
as counsel for the plaintiff in Republican Party of Minnesota
v. White.
Ortman,
elected in 2002, represents the 10 cities and eleven townships comprising
District 34 (Carver and Scott counties). She has served as a member
of the Judiciary and Elections committees. Her focuses as senator
have included tax credits for education and referendum election
reform.
Van
de North joined the Second Judicial District bench in 1998. Following
an initial four-year assignment handling adult criminal and civil
matters, Van de North moved to family and juvenile court where he
serves as the coordinating judge. He is lead judge for the Children’s
Justice Initiative in Ramsey County and presides at Ramsey County
Juvenile Substance Abuse Court.
Vasaly
practices in the areas of appeals, probate/trust litigation, and
commercial litigation. She has appeared before the U.S. Supreme
Court and argued appeals in state and federal courts in Minnesota
and other states. She is co-editor of the Eighth Circuit Appellate
Practice Manual, now in its third edition.
Wilson has been a Ramsey County District Court judge since 1987. For the last 10 years, he has been assigned criminal cases. In 2002, he was one of four Minnesota judges who spent a year serving as an international judge in Kosovo charged with helping to re-establish the rule of law in a country divided by war and racism.
