Law Students for Legal Disaster Relief

Law Students for Legal Disaster Relief is committed to providing assistance to the lingering legal effects of disaster. Hurricane Katrina exacerbated existing poverty conditions in the Gulf Region. The necessity to rebuild communities and legal infrastructure, created an unprecedented need for legal services. This also provides opportunities for William Mitchell students to experience many different aspects of law as well as provide a much needed service to underrepresented classes of people.

In the past, LSLDR has spent the week of Spring Break volunteering in the New Orleans area providing various degrees of legal services to organizations in need. There is still an ongoing need for volunteers in the New Orleans/Gulf Coast region.

LSLDR is not limited to serving only in the Gulf Coast region. We will respond to any area in the United States that is in need of volunteer legal relief work. National Organization: Student Hurricane Network Support From National Organization: Assists in providing some structure and placement opportunities in the Gulf Coast area.
