Second Career Students

There are two primary purposes to Second Career Students (SCS).

First, SCS shall provide a dialogue between the second career student and the legal marketplace.
Employers will have an opportunity to meet SCS and to understand a student's challenges, as well as the many different assets a SCS brings to the marketplace. 
Second, SCS will, through a program of awareness, attempt to redefine the legal marketplace. Employers need to recognize that there are more factors necessary to consider when hiring associates.

It is not the purpose of SCS to invert the factors legal firms consider when hiring, but to introduce the concept of balance.  In other words, grades or class rank or law journal publication are the primary factors considered in hiring.  SCS believes that is short sighted and unsupported. 

Firms shall need to provide opportunities to other students, including SCS students and it will be the responsibility of SCS to introduce those ideas to the industry.
