Our Goal: Helping Students Succeed
With your help, we will:
double the number of students receiving these awards to more than 100
double our $4 million endowment for scholarships
greatly increase the average annual scholarship award, presently $3,300
compete for top students with regional law schools
The Match: Doubling the Impact of Your Investment
In 2008 we created a $2 million matching fund to double the annual award payout of new scholarship endowments.
- The minimum level for an endowment is $25,000
- Each year, 5% of the endowment's value is paid out in scholarships helping Mitchell students
The match doubles the impact of that payout.
- Endowments created during The Mitchell Scholarship Drive will continue to be matched until the matching fund is expended.
- Current gifts and pledges of 5 years or less
- Deferred gifts are not included.
A Scholarship Endowment is a Legacy
Your scholarship endowment can be named in honor of the donor, a favorite professor or colleague, or other beloved individual. It can also be designated for specific programs, such as:
- enhancing diversity
- helping women
- assisting students serving as editors of the highly respected William Mitchell Law Review
Ways of Giving to Scholarships
- Give cash or stock gifts.
- Use charitable tools (e.g., annuities, trusts, etc.) to make a gift—provide income and tax benefits at the same time.
- Create a scholarship endowment through your will or designate Mitchell as the beneficiary of an insurance policy.
- Support the annual fund—80% of annual fund money goes to scholarships.
