The former deputy director of the St. Paul Department of Human Rights, who is an alumna, recommended that I attend William Mitchell because it is a great school overall. I like the fact that it is a close-knit community that values diversity. There are multiple minority associations on campus for students to get involved in, and the Office of Multicultural Affairs has many events throughout the year. I am parliamentarian of the Black Law Student Association and a member of the Christian Legal Society. BLSA provided student mentors to first-year students. My mentor, Chantell, a 3L, was very supportive throughout the year, helping me with everything from study strategies to balancing time to social interaction. The Christian Legal Society provided a great deal of moral support and assisted in keeping me grounded.

In addition, the Twin Cities attracts people from diverse backgrounds and offers numerous professional development opportunities, along with a great deal of cultural and recreational activities.
