The Negotiation Competition focuses on the skills needed to be an
effective negotiator. Students participate in mock negotiations and
have their work critiqued by peers, faculty, and practitioners. Teams
of two are given hypothetical problems, instructed about their
client’s needs, and asked to negotiate a satisfactory outcome with
another team. As long as they continue to win, participants have the
opportunity to compete at three levels: intra-school, regional, and
national. At each level, the team pairs work together to solve the
problems presented.
The intra-school competition is in the spring and open to all
students; the regional competition is in the fall. Students who
participate in this competition must attend meetings in the fall
semester on Wednesdays from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Students may
earn one pass/fail credit at each level of competition.
