Directors
- Ann Juergens
Professor of Law and
Director of Clinic Program - A.B., Harvard University; J.D., University of Minnesota. As co-director of the clinic program, Prof. Juergens oversees the administration of scores of cases and legal matters each year. She has worked in private practice, as an associate city attorney for Berkeley, California, and for the Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County in California.
- Peter B. Knapp
Professor of Law and
Director of Clinic Program - A.B., J.D., Harvard University. As co-director of the clinic program, Prof. Knapp oversees several supervising adjunct professors, 20 field supervisors, and about 100 students each year. Before joining William Mitchell’s faculty in 1989, he was an associate with Oppenheimer, Wolff & Donnelly in Minneapolis.

- Bradford W. Colbert ’85
Resident Adjunct Professor of Law - B.S., University of Wisconsin-Madison; J.D., William Mitchell College of Law. Prof. Colbert supervises William Mitchell’s Legal Assistance to Minnesota Prisoners (LAMP) Clinic. He is also a part-time public defender for the Minnesota Public Defender’s Office.
- A. Kimberley Dayton
Professor of Law - B.A., University of Kansas; J.D., University of Michigan. Prof. Dayton is an expert on elder law. She is published widely on the topic, and she created the National Elder Law Network Web site. She directs William Mitchell’s Center for Elder Justice and Policy.
- Diane M. Dube ’82
Resident Adjunct Professor of Law - B.A., Edgecliff College; J.D., William Mitchell College of Law; M.P.A., University of Minnesota. Prof. Dube has worked as a real estate and family law attorney and with Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services’ Housing Equality Law Project.

Prof. Erstling, formerly the director of the Patent Cooperation Treaty, is an international expert on intellectual property.
- Carolyn Grose

J.D. Brooklyn Law School. Prof. Grose has substantial clinical teaching experience. She is also a well-published family law specialist.

President and Dean -

Dean Janus’ research centers on the tensions between civil liberty and public safety. He created William Mitchell’s Law and Psychiatry Clinic.

- Denise D. J. Roy
Professor of Law - B.A., University of Minnesota; J.D., Yale Law School. Prof. Roy’s focus is tax law and policy. She was majority staff tax counsel for the U.S. Finance Committee, briefing and advising the chairman and members on issues relating to budget and tax policy.

Professor of Law - B.A., University of Minnesota; M.SW., J.D., Washington University in St. Louis. Prof. Ver Steegh teaches and publishes in the areas of family law, domestic violence, and alternative dispute resolution.
- Joanna Woolman
Adjunct Professor of Law - B.S., University of Wisconsin-Madison; J.D., University of San Francisco School of Law. Prof. Woolman is a public defender in Anoka County and directs the Reentry Clinic. Previously, she worked in civil rights litigation.
